Ivonne Álvarez writes cozy stories that live on the edges of fantasy, soft science fiction, and magical realism
She is interested in exploring worlds where the everyday coexists with the extraordinary, where human bonds—friendship, love—are just as important as journeys to other worlds or the secrets of the universe. Her stories are often inhabited by sensitive, curious, and courageous characters who discover that there is magic, too, in daring to believe.
When she is not writing, Ivonne works as a computer engineer, watches the sky, chats with real or imaginary cats over coffee, and discovers the world little by little.
After the warm reception of her first novel, Perseid Shower, she returns with Los Cascalotes: When the earth shakes, secrets surface (coming in September). In this second work, the author expands her literary universe to delve into magical realism.
The novel is deeply inspired by the events that have marked Mexico in recent decades; and although it is one hundred percent fiction, it seeks to reflect the complexity of Mexican reality through folklore, mysticism, and the hope for a more pleasant future.
Find her books on Amazon (Kindle, KU, Paperback) and at El Gato Lector Bookstore.
